Let them Be Creative!

The thing I love about kids is that they don't have some of the inhibitions that adults do.  When they craft they don't worry about it... they just do it!

Yesterday Rachel was home "sick" from school.  Sick enough that I couldn't send her to school, but not too sick to be bouncing off the walls with a need for entertainment.  So I let her loose in the stamping room while I was setting up for club and here's what she came up with...

Rachel was very proud of her artwork and took it to school today to give to her teacher. 

KID TIP: Let your kids know what items they are allowed to use and what things are "off limits".  I make sure that Rachel has plenty of accessories and papers of her own to use so that she doesn't use something of mine that I have for my own projects.

Coloring Tip

When stamping with younger children, stamp an outline image for them and let them color it in. 

The Basic Black Classic Pad is permanent, so I don't recommend having it as an option for kids to stamp with.

Tip for Easy Punching

Kids LOVE punches. 

If they aren't strong enough to punch through card stock yet, give them colored computer paper.  They should be able to punch through it with ease.

Use Pre-Cut card stock

You might have noticed a difference between the cards that the girls stamped with me and the ones that they stamped with their dad.  Besides the fact that I know where all of the stamping supplies are and how to use everything, my secret is that I give them pre-cut card stock. 

You need to decide when your children are old enough to use your paper cutter, but to avoid even having it out, I put out pre-cut card stock for stamping time.  I have a stash of pre-cut cards left over from my stamping events, but you can cut some card stock ahead of time or even put out your paper scraps.
